As for desktop browsers, after Internet Explorer, Google Chrome has
earned a place in the second place, surpassing in popularity to other
like Firefox or Safari. For devices with Android 4.0 or higher version
is available beta of Chrome but according to Ben Schacter, analyst at
Macquarie, the Google browser would come to IOS and even Apple may
already be reviewing the application code for publication.
Schacter
explains how Chrome for IOS could be a boon for both Google and Apple.
Currently, Google pays Apple 50 to 60 percent of the revenue generated
by searches through Safari. That is, for every million dollars
generated by Google searches on IOS devices , Apple is left with 600
thousand, while only 400 000 go to Google. With Chrome supplanting
Safari, total profits would be for Google.
For
Apple, the advantage is that IOS does not allow third-party
applications-such as Chrome, by default. So every time we click on a
link in an email, for example, open a Safari window. Thus, further
increasing the domain of about 99% by Safari browsers among IOS.
Schacter says that we should expect the arrival of Google Chrome for
IOS in the second quarter, that is, in the coming weeks, or up towards
the end of the year-
Macquarie
analyst explains how this behavior by Apple could trigger the "second
browser war" if the Cupertino company mimics the fact that Microsoft
put Internet Explorer as the default browser, attacking the
then-dominant Netscape and which earned him a reprimand by the U.S.
Government. The bottom line is if Chrome for IOS is a better browser
than Safari, because Google has not been characterized by having large
applications in IOS - but the possibility of a business for Google and
Apple after arrival.
